It is extremely important to me to provide a loving and nurturing environment for your child. We need a place that is focused on learning. In order to do this, there are many procedure that must be in place to ensure our class is ready for learning at all times.
Morning Routine
Students will quickly begin to catch on quickly with morning routines. They will come in, make a lunch choice, turn in any notes or money, prepare their materials, and begin and work as instructed on the board.

Behavior Rewards
I believe in rewarding those who constantly make our environment one that is focused on learning. It is important that children begin to understand that they are not always rewarded for doing what is right, but I like to encourage positive behaviors in one of the following ways:
- Lunch with teacher
- Lunch with a friend in the classroom
- Caught Doing Good announcement
Each class will have the opportunity to earn a group behavior reward.
Their goal:
Possible Rewards:
- No homework (one week only)
- Dance Party
- Ice Cream or Freeze Pop (during break)
- Social Time (free talk, draw, write)
- Music while working
Behavior Consequences
If your child is unable to follow procedures, classroom or school rules, they will have time to think about that during time out of break. If your child is unable to complete class work or homework, they will have to make that up during break time. Whatever time is left after completing work correctly, they can use that time for break.
Donations
We are always in need of the following items:
- Clorox Wipes
- Disinfectant Spray
- Germ X
- Tissues
Please be sure your child knows where their library books are at all times. You are responsible for the loss or damage of these books.
Class Books
I furnish many books for the students to use in my own classroom library. ALL children are welcome to use my books and read them at home - PLEASE return, as it has taken me years to build my collection!
Parent Opportunities
Please become a part of the PTO. If you would like to help in the classroom, please let me know.
Money
Please be sure ALL money is placed in an envelope or baggie. It needs to be labeled with your child's name, teacher, and what the money is for.
Newsletters
We will send a 5th grade newsletter home each Monday. This will include all important information. Also, check back at this site for updated information on the Home & Calendar pages.
Transportation
Please write a note if the transportation changes for your child. Do not assume they know. We MUST have it in writing or you may call the office early in the day to notify us of any changes.
Visitors
We would like for you to come help in class if you are able, but please let us know ahead of time so we can work something out in the schedule. Coming to the classroom unannounced can interrupt instructional time.

Please make sure your child has plenty of rest each night, so they are able to focus on learning!
